It’s creative space Thursday and today I’ll be at the hospital with my mom. She’s having surgery so my bag will be packed full with things to do to keep me occupied, still I imagine nothing will get sewn, knitted, read or written while I am there.
I confess I am a worrier. I give my worries to God but yank them back just as fast. No need to pretend that I’ll being doing anything creative unless you can count the various ‘what if’ scenarios my brain will be creating.
Good news!!!! My cover is done! What do you think? I’m loving it and can’t wait to hold it in my hand!
I have several blog tours coming up next month. I’ll let you know when they are so you can have a chance at winning a copy of my book.
As always please check out kootyoo for more creative spaces!
Amber S. is the winner of A Passion Denied! Thank you so much Julie for donating your book for the drawing and for all the commenting you did to our blog commenters. *name drawn by Impartial Ed
They’re back! The delightful O’Conner sisters we’ve fallen in love with and watched as they fell in love with Mitch and Collin. This time we treated to Beth’s story, she’s come of age, cut her hair short and changed her name to Lizzie and she’s after Brady.
Brady fights his attraction to Beth. He has a secret past that he can’t seem to accept that forgiveness has been given. He tries to see Beth as anything but a Lizzie. Will he be able to fight off an O’Conner woman?
A Passion Denied gave me something most series books fail to deliver. Lessman doesn’t let previous characters wither away, she keeps them alive and part of the story. They don’t just marry or move away and live happily ever after. We get to see what happens to Charity and Faith as newlyweds.
This book has several twists I didn’t see coming and wasn’t quite sure how they would be resolved. Once again Lessman delivers a book worth savoring.
One commenter will get the opportunity to read this book! Julie Lessman has graciously offered to give one copy of A Passion Denied to someone who posts a comment.
Here are the rules. YOU MUST LEAVE a contact email in your comment. The Comment Contest will end at 9:00 p.m. CST on May 13.
Today I am rejoicing! Josh called last night and he has a JOB! A real life work for a long time job. A job that will pay the student loans and pays doctor bills!
Wait, does that mean I’m no longer needed as a parent?
Or
Maybe now I get to be the fun parent? No longer will I have to say close the door behind you, turn off the lights and no, we can’t have pizza again tonight for dinner. We had it last night.
I found this tutorial on you tube, this is part 1 done by Serena Smith. You start with a pizza box from your local pizza place. My box wasn’t as easy to work with as Serena’s so it might be best if you get a box from Pizza Hut. You can find part 2 here.
It’s really fun to do. I did another one that isn’t pictured. I have a feeling it could be come one of my favorite relaxing creative moment. It takes very little time. I’m storing finished quilt blocks in the one pictured. I’m thinking this would be good for completed scrapbook pages while I finish the rest for an album. It would be great for storing traced patterns too.
You can see the front of my box is a bit bumpy. The front of my Pizza box wasn’t straight so I had to play with the fabric to make it work.
The other one I did in a lighter color and the graphic from the pizza den shows through. Doesn’t matter to me though since it’s stacked on a shelf, the top isn’t that visible.
Don’t forget to hop over to KOOTOYOO for more views of creative space Thursdays!
No video this week! That is so stressful to make. I do not like being on camera, although my mom says when I was younger keeping me out of the camera was impossible. Things change, Mom.
This week I did towels for my aunt and uncle who just had their 50th anniversary. I figure anyone married that long probably needs new towels. The towels are white but the light in my sewing room makes them look a bit ‘dirty’ they aren’t!
My new threads dvds came and I’ve been watching them. The reviews on them haven’t been great but I think maybe for someone just starting to learn how to alter a pattern they are good. I’ve learned a few things already.
My next project is covering pizza boxes! I saw a video on youtube and thought I have to try that. Next week I’ll show you how they turn out–if they do! I want them to store quilt blocks as I make them.
On the writing note–still no cover to show. I’ve been working on a manuscript this week. Every time I think I’m finished with this one I think of something that can be better. It’s amazing how many times you can write one sentence.
I’ve renewed my interest in getting healthy and am doing more with sparkpeople.com if you are on there I’m pencildancer. Look me up and friend me!
A moving story of common wisdom from the bestselling author of The Traveler’s Gift.
Orange Beach, Alabama is a simple town filled with simple people. But they all have their share of problems – marriages teetering on the brink of divorce, young adults giving up on life, business people on the verge of bankruptcy, and many of the other obstacles that life seems to dish out to the masses.
Fortunately, when things look the darkest – a mysterious old man named Jones has a miraculous way of showing up. Communicating what he calls “a little perspective,” Jones explains that he has been given a gift of noticing things that others miss. In his simple interactions, Jones speaks to that part in everyone that is yearning to understand why things happen and what they can do about it.
Based on a remarkable true story, The Noticer beautifully blends fiction, allegory, and inspiration.
The Noticer is a little book with a quite cover featuring a brown suitcase. It should be neon green screaming buy me and change your life because it packs a lot of information—life changing information. The first time I read it, yes I read it twice and intend to read it again—it’s just that good, I gasped as the concept of perception suddenly seemed not only possible but necessary.
As Jones travels through Andy’s life noticing things Andy could change to make his life and those around him better it seems so simple and yet many of us do not do those things. I’m one of those people.
In one chapter Andrew’s explains how we speak in dialect to each other and how we can learn to listen and understand other’s language. He also gives word pictures of the animal kingdom to further understanding of the people you interact with. This is where I decided this is a book to be bought not borrowed or loaned out. Not only can I use this information in my personal life I can use it when I write. It’s a two for one book for me!
Reading this book could possible save a marriage, a life, a relationship with a child or if you work with large groups of people you will find a way to work with them as well. And it isn’t hard, there aren’t seventeen steps you have to follow to make it happen! One small thing can make a huge difference in a person’s life that could affect the outcome of a generation or generations to follow.
I love this day of the week. I tried another video. I wish I knew how to make an avi file out of a wmv file. I can’t upload wmv files to youtube. I can’t edit this so I’m sorry you’ll see me standing there staring forever. Grrr. I love to learn new things but sometimes the learning twists my brain cells.
This week I cut my hair! Or rather Tara cut it, no more fighting the waves and making it straight! Yay! More time for me to do other things.
Still waiting for my cover to come, sorry I can’t show it to you yet.
A report on youdata–it works! I did click on the ads and I did get money in my paypal account. IF you want to try click this link. Youdata

I’m wondering if anyone knows how to change from blog to wordpress? Is there a way to do it easily? Can I move all of my posts over? If anyone one knows could you send me a link or advice to DLBrandmeyer at gmail.com notice I put in spaces so please remove them before trying to email me. Thanks! pencildancer…feeling very lonely
