National Chili Month is here!

Where I live October means Chili-Cook Off time in downtown Belleville, Illinois. 

The main street is closed on Friday night and Saturday. Booths are erected and civic and church groups battle it out for the title of best chili.

I found out that booth 44 would have gluten free cupcakes, chili and CRACKERS! Oh my! Friday came and so did the rain. I didn’t care I wanted to eat street food like everyone else.

We walked through the pouring rain to booth 44 to find it CLOSED. Such sadness you can’t imagine. 

We don’t live far from Belleville so we went back Saturday afternoon. 

Ed had regular chili.

I had gluten free chili

AND THIS!!!!!

Isn’t that a cute cupcake? 

It was so good I went back and bought another one. Thank you Peace Lutheran for thinking about people who must eat gluten free. 

We stopped and listened to the USAF Band of Mid America  for awhile too.
